Following last year’s successes at Sodexo’s annual Salon Culinaire, held at Ascot Racecourse, our catering team again submitted three entries to this highly competitive and prestigious event.  Entering the Table Setting class, Head Chef Cathy Goude and Catering Assistant Karen Gillam designed a beautiful setting on the theme of “Thanksgiving”, featuring a carved and decorated pumpkin, home-made cookies and lemonade, and family photographs.  Sarah Hearn entered the “Innovative Tray-Bake” class with a mouth-watering concoction of chocolate, cherries, nuts and brandy.  The Catering Team were lucky enough to be offered some of Sarah’s “trial run”, and we are sorry that, in view of the alcohol content, we couldn’t add this to the lunch-time menu, because it really was delicious!  Both these entries very deservedly won a Bronze Medal in the face of very stiff competition.

Not to be out-done, the Catering Manager entered a Pear and Almond Tart in the Dessert Tart Class, and was happy to be awarded a Certificate of Merit to add to last year’s certificate.

This was truly a team effort and we are all very proud of our results.
