Secondary
Entry to the senior school is dependent upon the following:
1) The availability of places. It should be noted that at age 11 priority will be given to existing Chetwynde pupils.
2) Chetwynde usually admits children regardless of ability or aptitude. However, all children wishing to enter the senior school will be required to sit an assessment paper for the purpose of identifying their skills and abilities. At 11+ this will be based on tests in English, Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Scholarships may be offered, details of which will be reviewed annually. At age 12+ this will be based on tests in English and Maths and also current exercise books will be viewed as a general review of a child’s academic background.
3) A satisfactory school report. A proforma is sent to a child’s current school requesting information regarding his/her academic record, behaviour, any health or educational special needs and the extent of parental support
4) An interview with the pupil.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS (SEN)
Chetwynde School welcomes applications from children with disabilities and special educational needs. However, each case will be assessed individually to ensure that children entering the school can benefit from the curriculum and play a full part in the life of the school. In some cases, the curriculum, facilities or staffing resources may not meet the needs of the child and in these cases an offer may not be made.
