Drama
Through a process of participation, observation, and analysis, the study of drama will encourage pupils to develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the dramatic arts as well as important life skills such as the ability to work as part of a team and to value the ideas and opinions of others. Performance skills also promote increased self-confidence and self-awareness.
Although a rewarding and stimulating subject in its own right, the study of drama also supports and enhances other areas of the curriculum such as English and history.
Drama forms part of the curriculum in years 7,8 and 9 and pupils can participate further by joining the thriving drama club. From year 10 drama can be studied to GCSE level as an extra curricular subject during which the emphasis will be on script interpretation, devising techniques and group work.
The annual school production includes pupils from a wide age range and brings together the combined talents of the drama, music, and art departments.
