Music

Chetwynde school has an enthusiastic and energetic music department.  We are justifiably proud of the part music plays in the wider life of the school and local community.

By popular demand the House Music Competition has now become an annual event and involves all pupils, either as performers or enthusiastic supporters.

Pupils are given the opportunity to study a wide range of musical genres from medieval madrigals to today’s popular music, with the aim of widening their musical knowledge and appreciation. Study also includes music theory and composition.  In addition, pupils can  opt for instrumental lessons which are taught by our experienced team of peripatetic staff.

Music is taught to both GCSE and Advanced Level.
