Week 1

Creative Crafts
Aged 8 – 14 years

Using the seashore as a theme this innovative week of art and craft will begin with a visit to the beach, where students will be encouraged to draw inspiration from the many objects, colours and textures around them. Working with specialist artists throughout the week, students will be encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to produce a number of unique pieces of artwork using a range of media, including batik, willow, stained-glass and pottery. This promises to be an exciting week for budding artists at the end of which they will have a variety of original works of art to take home.
Adventures in Never Never Land
Aged 5 – 9 years

Recreate the magic and wonder of J. M. Barrie’s classic story, Peter Pan, in this fabulous summer school for younger children. This exciting week of play will stimulate young imaginations as they are transported to Never Never Land, a fantastic, magical place with mermaids, wolves, red indians and pirates. The varied programme of activities may include story- telling, drama, singing, music making, arts and crafts, inventive games, costume making and indoor and outdoor play. The emphasis at all times will be on having fun!
Football Skills
Aged 7 – 13 years
Cost £120
Led by Inside Out Soccer Schools this week long course will provide the opportunity for boys and girls, of all ages and abilities, to improve and acquire new football skills. Innovative coaching techniques and the use of a range of specialist equipment will be employed to develop individual skills and teamwork. Fun based games and quizzes will keep the children focussed and motivated and no child will want to miss the opportunity to learn a series of ball tricks with which to impress family and friends.
Sporting Skills
Aged 8 – 14
Cost £120
This action packed, fun- filled and challenging course is suitable for suitable for boys and girls of all abilities. The programme has been devised to include a range of activities, sports and fun games designed to develop core sporting skills as well as improving agility, balance and co-ordination. Lively competition and teamwork will be encouraged, with the emphasis at all times on having fun. The week will conclude with a Summer School Olympics complete with medals and trophies!
Week 2
4th – 8th August
Outdoor Activity Week
Aged 8 – 14 years
Cost £155
During this exciting and action packed week children will participates in a wide range of outdoor activities including climbing, shelter building, orienteering, archery, problem solving and team building. A challenging high ropes course will be set up on the school sports field and there will be two days off site to allow pupils the opportunity to try their hand at raft building and canoeing as well as climbing and gorge scrambling. An evening family barbeque will be held in the school grounds after which participating children will be offered the opportunity to spend a night under canvas. The week will conclude with a tournament and prize giving. This course was extremely popular last year and early booking is advised.
Animal Artistry
Aged 6 – 10 Years
Cost £135
This fun filled week of art and craft will keep children engaged and excited as they are encouraged to use their imagination and develop their creativity. Using animals as a theme there will be the opportunity to work with a variety of media including clay, batik, papier- mache and pottery. Whether inspired by their own family pets or more exotic species young children will enjoy creating their own unique works of art under the tutelage of experienced artists. An off site visit to Dalton Zoo will be incorporated into the weeks activities.
Fun Sports
4 – 8 years
Cost £120
This exciting week of sport, fun and games for younger children will include gymnastics, music and movement, obstacle courses, mini tennis, athletics and ball games. The emphasis at all times will be on having fun whilst developing balance, co-ordination and agility. The week will conclude with a Summer School Mini Olympics Tournament complete with prizes, medals and certificates.
Week 3
11th – 15th August
Cricket Skills
8 – 13 years
Cost £120
Open to beginners as well as more experienced cricketers, this course will offer participants the opportunity to develop and improve skills in all aspects of the game under the tutelage of professional and international cricketers. Whilst most of the instruction will take place in the School Sports Hall, using the cricket nets and bowling machine, there will also be the opportunity to put skills into practice during outdoor games. Participants should bring their own equipment, where possible, and are encouraged to wear cricket whites.
Yoga for Kids
Aged 6 – 8 Monday - Thursday Mornings Only
Aged 9 – 12 Monday - Thursday Afternoons Only

The word Yoga can be translated as union, referring to the union of the mind, body and breath. These courses have been designed to introduce Yoga to young people and allow them to experience the many benefits which include increased flexibility, fitness, concentration and calmness. Younger children will be introduced to Yoga through a process of story telling, creative play, exercise, games and relaxation with the emphasis at all times on having fun. A more mature and traditional approach will be adopted for the older age group with increased emphasis on breathing techniques and the introduction of more challenging poses.
Strictly Come Dancing
Aged 6 – 8 Afternoons only Monday - Thursday Full day Friday
Aged 9 – 12 Mornings only Monday – Thursday Full day Friday

Children will have enormous fun as they are introduced to a range of Ballroom, Latin American and fun dances. Learning to dance is a valuable social skill which is not only enjoyable but improves confidence, co-ordination and poise, as well as encouraging an appreciation and understanding of music and rhythm. The week will conclude with competitions and awards on Friday morning followed by the chance to put skills into practice during a dance with family and friends in the later part of the afternoon.
Yoga for kids can be combined with Strictly Come Dancing to create a full day’s activities. Cost: £125
Fibre, Fabrics and Fun
Aged 11 years +
Cost £135
This course has been designed for pupils with an interest in art and fashion. Under the tutelage of Helen McKenna and Christine Macadie, graduates in Art and Embroidered Textiles, students will have the opportunity to create an individual article of clothing, customise a favourite item and produce a number of accessories such as bags, bracelets, belts and scarves. No experience is necessary just a lively enthusiasm and a creative mind. All materials are included in the cost of the course.
